If you have never been to Taiwan, you might not know there is a Fish market situated in Taipei. Just like the one in Tokyo Tsukiji Outer Market but a mini version. It have been divided into several sections: Seafood bar, Hotpot area, Grilled Seafood Barbecue and standing Sushi bar. It is situated in the residential area and quite easy to find this place if you choose to take the metro. So let me show you how it looks in the interior.
The Interior
The interior is quite huge, there are various fish ponds in the centered area. I don’t have much knowledge of different kinds of fishes but it looks so fresh. Not only fish but crabs, oysters etc. The price was marked on the tag and sure you can either take away or ask them to cook immediately.
The Sushi Market
As mentioned above, after you passed by the fishes area, there is a huge super market in the center. Be aware as it is very crowded in the weekend! So I would highly recommend to go in the weekdays instead! There are various kind of sushi or sashimi. At the beginning, we are a bit confused as we saw lots of people lined up on the right and not sure what are they waiting for. Finally we realized there are some special sushi where you won’t able to find in the middle of the market. We picked our favored sashimi in the fridge and they served this in a tray for us. However if you don’t want to line up, you can still pick those in the centre. Besides, there are also drinks which you can pick in the a few drink corner. To be honest, it’s a bit pricy and they take CASH only!! So beware to bring enough Cash no visa card/ debit card!
The Restaurant and others.
Since it is super crowded that day, we decided to take away rather than waiting forever for the long queue. As said, there are different restaurant so you can give a try if it is not crowded. I’m not sure if there’s any reservation service but you can check out from the official site given below. Otherwise you have to get a ticket in the reception before you get in.
There’re not only sushi / sashimi corner but a small steak corner as well. Also before we checked out, there’s a fridge with various kind of fruits or veggies as well. Thus it is not only a fish market but a huge super market!

After you paid in the cashier desk (if you decided to take out), don’t miss the place where you have to pick the chopsticks, napkins and soy source. I can’t see anyone would clean the table and all the leftovers remains. I think this is quite disgusting and surprised where it is a huge fish market with insufficient cleaning service. Thus we spent some time to find a cleaned table where we can enjoyed our food. We ordered the sashimi, sushi and crabmeat. They are all so yummy!
Besides, there’s a little wine bar on the hidden area, it seems a great place to chill too!
