After several posts and recommendation of Taiwan, I would like to do a wrap up for just 1 Day Itinerary. Aiming for those who only stay or pass by Taiwan in a very short period of time. This is mainly focus on a Food tour instead of a site seeing day.
1/ BREAKFAST SPOT – BRUMA Lifestyle
Anyways let’s start with breakfast in a very local Taiwanese Cafe. This was one of the café where I found they have various choices of toast and is freshly made everyday. It is located in Zhongshan area, it takes only 5 minutes walkable distance from station. Since we stayed in Mei Hotel, it is located a few alleys only. It is a very little cafe and only 5-6 tables inside.
The menu are all Chinese however believe you can ask for English version if necessary. You have to order in the paper that given on table and mark what you wish to have. We ordered the deep fried pork with egg and a deep fried chicken fillet with egg toast. The meat was so crispy and fresh. For beverages, we ordered Taiwanese milk tea and fresh soy milk. The toast cost only 40 TWD (US$1.3) !! and the drink only cost TWD 20 ($0.6) Believe or not, I spent less than $2.00 USD for a breakfast!! LOL

2. Addiction Aquatic Development
After a full breakfast, let’s move to one of the largest fish market in Taiwan – Addiction Aquatic Development situated in Zhongshan District. There are Seafood bar, Hotpot area, Grilled Seafood Barbecue and standing Sushi bar in the market. It is also a huge super market in the center which you can either buy and cook at home or dine-in. Be aware as it is very crowded in the weekend! So I would highly recommend to go in the weekdays instead! More details was featured in the previous blog from the below link
3. HSING TIAN KONG Temple
If it is not too late after visiting the fish market, it’s also worth to visit the traditional temple – Hsing Tian Kong Temple built in 1967. The temple is situated at the street corner with dominate sculpture of dragons on top of the roof.
A bit background of the temple, it is devoted to Guan Yu-a general in Eastern Han Dynasty. He plays a significant role in the events that led to the collapse of Han dynasty. From the design of the architecture, there are detail carvings on pillar with the super red door in the middle, left and right. The 180 pins on doors symbolised 180 God which is quite interesting. I don’t have much time to go in and looks into very detail but saw many believer are praying at that moment.
When I passed by this stone, I saw people lining up and touch this stone. Then I asked a lady and she told me that this stone will bring you luck if you touch it, I’m not sure if it works or not but I did touch it ! 🙂 Hope it will bring me some luck!

4. Experiment on Coffee in a Greenhouse – Good Design Institute
If it’s still early after you visit the temple, I would highly recommend you to visit the below cafe – GOOD Design Institute as it is just located no far from the temple. This is not just a normal cafe, but the decoration and their coffee is excellent! As a coffee lover like me, this is where definitely you don’t want to miss. 5. Ningxia Night Market
Ningxia market is one of those located at the heart of Taipei, it is very local with lots of food counters and a few game counters. The food counters are lined up into 2 columns, with bright signages on 2 alleys and growth in the dark. They started at 17:00 however I recommend to go after dinner as you can feel how the local eats and if you don’t mind being crowded, it’s kind of fun and cool.
Being a tourist/traveller, I don’t mind to eat local and always exciting and curious how the local’s daily life. As I think that’s the most precious when you travel and that’s also the reason why I love travelling. You can experience something out of your country. Anyways, after a few pictures of the night market atmosphere, let me show you more photos of how attractive the food was.
So basically they cooked in the food counter and it finished within 5 mins!! There are fried beef, chicken and even seafood! If you feel thirsty, there are also various kinds of drinks but mainly are fruit juice. After all the snacks, there’s also Chinese traditional dessert or fresh fruit you can choose from. The above box is a deep fried beef cubes, it’s so fresh and juicy.
So ‘Luwei’ is a very famous and common snacks in Taiwan. It means braised dishes. The photos below shows how you order ‘Luwei’. Just picked from the window glaze, the lady will cut into small pieces and mixed in a tray with different herbs.
There’re also seafood counter and dessert counter. Lastly if you would like some fruit, you can find it at the end of the street. Thus, you can have your full meal in just one night market! It opens till mid-night 00:00! It won’t be too late even after you finish dinner with friends.
