A Day in Taketomi Island – Okinawa – PART 1

Hey! Have been silent for quite a while since I’m quite busy updating my facebook page recently! Of course I haven’t forget this page!! So let’s continue with the lovely island in Ishigaki – Okinawa. Follow on my previous post, we spent a few days in Ishigaki and decided to spend another day to the nearest island – Taketomi Island, it takes only approximately 15 mins from the port (グラスボート＆ヨット南西観光) In this passage, I will teach you how to depart from Ishigaki Island to Taketomi Island, also I will introduce 2 MUST GO spot!! So let’s GO!

Knowing that this place might not sound very popular to you but it allows you to discover the other side of Okinawa. There’re actually lots of little islands – 8 different islands (Yaeyama).  One of the island apart from Ishigaki that we would like to explore is Taketomi Island. The earliest depart time from the port is 07:30 and the latest ferry to be back was 17:45. So if you are not planning to stay overnight, you do need to aware of the time!! Otherwise you might need to stay outdoor camping haha!

[The First SPOT!] – Kaiji Beach

Since the island is pretty small, once we arrived to Taketomi. There are a few shuttle bus which could bring you to either bicycle rental store OR  a ride on a water buffalo cart. So we chose to rent a bicycle and went to the first pot – Kaiji Beach. Kaiji Beach is a very famous and it is a MUST GO place because the sand are all in ‘STAR’ shape!! However, due to the frequent ‘grab and go’ from tourist, the beach no longer have star shape sand. It reminds us to love the nature and not to be selfish. Alternatively, you can also buy it  from souvenir shops in Ishigaki.

[The Second SPOT!] – Kondoi Beach

Kondoi Beach is such a paradise to me! The water is so crystal clear!  The beach is permitted to swim! (Not all the beaches allow you to swim!) So we stayed here for some rest and took a few nice shot. We didn’t bring our swimming suit as we didn’t decide stay for long. However if you planned to swim, there are a few sun umbrellas and benches so it’s a great place to spend the whole afternoon here! See how lovely it is!! (P.S No filter!)

We returned our bicycle after visited Kondoi beach. The sun was so harsh so do remember to bring your sunglasses and most importantly is to bring your  suntan oil. While we wandered around, there were lots of blooming florals along side of the path. It became the beautiful backdrop everywhere for photos.
