Experiment on Coffee in a Greenhouse – Spectacular Cafe in TAIPEI-Good Design Institute Review

As a coffee lover, I have never imagine I could experiment coffee in a Greenhouse cafe. Continued my last post of my Taipei business trip, I went to a uniqueness cafe located in Da’an District. I have marked this placed in advance because of it’s spectacular look & feel. A little background before getting into the cafe. It originally was a cafe moved from Beijing since 2008, they aimed not only to open a regular cafe which you have seen in everywhere but include more lifestyle products from local designers. Thus you can find lots of different lifestyle products such as notebooks, totes, water bottles, ceramic art piece etc.

Into the Lab

Besides various designer products, as it named ‘Good Design Institute’; you sure will find lots of test tubes everywhere especially near the order counter. It seems like the staff are working an experiment on coffee in a Greenhouse. As you can find the ceiling is decorated with plants and an outdoor area which is also located outside of the cafe ( but there are only 2 tables). Also there’re some great photos spot which you can find in the cafe.

The Food

One thing you need to aware as it is quite crowded in the weekend. However they don’t have a reservation service. So you need to walk in and probably have to wait for at least 15 mins. Lucky as I was alone so I don’t have to wait for such a long time. Also you need to order from order courter and they will bring you the food.

Since I arrived a bit late after flight, so I ordered daily special and coffee. The daily special is braised beef with veggies and rice. It also served with hot tea. The presentation was very nice and so as the taste. The braised beef is very soft which perfectly mixed with the sauce and the portion is enough for me. Besides I ordered ice black coffee, they have carefully separated into 3 containers to avoid having too much ice in coffee. The taste is very good! which I don’t agree a few reviews said that it taste like dish washer. I forgot the taste of tea but in my memory it’s quite good as well. The price of the lunch is only 280 TWD so it is reasonable.

So if you are looking for a place where it is spectacular in Taipei, this is one that you must visit!
